Mr. Sean Wheeler is a Civilian Member with the Federal Policing Program of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). As Operations Coordinator, he is responsible for the RCMP’s technology initiatives that secure Canada’s border between the ports of entry in British Columbia. British Columbia shares over 1,300 Miles of international land and maritime border with the States of Washington, Montana, Idaho and Alaska.
Mr. Wheeler developed and manages the RCMP’s Border Integrity Operations Centre which supports law enforcement operations including the newly deployed Canada-US (integrated) maritime ‘Shiprider’ teams. The BIOC works closely with US federal law enforcement agencies to coordinate joint operations in real time. Mr. Wheeler was Project Manager in the design and implementation of the RCMP’s Vessel Tracking System (Signalis Radar) which is key in supporting Canada and US law enforcement operations, and small vessel maritime domain awareness. Prior to the RCMP, Mr. Wheeler obtained significant experience over seven years in maritime Search and Rescue operations, and has a BA in Criminology.
