As the Chief of the Enforcement Division, LCDR Hehr is responsible for Coast Guard Law Enforcement and Port Security Operations in an area of responsibility which includes more than 350 miles of California's coastline, ocean waters out to 200 miles offshore, and the nation's largest port complex.

LCDR Hehr reported to Sector Los Angeles - Long Beach (LA-LB) from the Coast Guard Officer Personnel Management Division in Washington DC where he was responsible for assigning officers throughout the world in Law Enforcement, Search and Rescue, Port Security and Defense Operations as well as others.  Prior to being assigned to Washington DC he was the Executive Officer of Maritime Safety and Security Team LA-LB charged with providing a deployable Port, Waterways, and Coastal Security element anywhere in the world capable of waterside and underwater security, bomb detection and advanced interdiction boarding teams.

From 2004 to 2006, LCDR Hehr was assigned to the Office of the Secretary of Homeland Security where he provided immediate support to Secretaries Ridge and Chertoff for Homeland Defense and Maritime Security Policy and Operations.  While assigned to the Secretary's office he was a member of the White House National Security Council's Maritime Security working group that developed the Nation's first National Strategy for Maritime Security signed by the President.

LCDR Hehr is a 1998 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, with honors, and his commission as an officer. In 2003, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Boston College's Carroll School of Business.
