Mr. Michael Spitz, a Senior Analyst Engineer with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is a Team Lead at the Architecture & Integration Division, United States Joint Staff J6.  He leads a team of operators, analysts, and engineers, defining the operational and technical context and improving interoperability across various DoD and DHS missions. By using one of the missions defined, Maritime Interception, DHS will enable a new level of coordination across DHS Component lines, as platforms and systems are coming together to resolve a myriad of interoperability issues.  This effort includes the application of executable architectures across the mission to help resolve identified gaps and propose new solutions.

Mr. Spitz, a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, has over 4,000 flight hours (including several hundred combat hours) as a B-52 pilot.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy and a Master of Science Degree in Systems Technology from Louisiana State University in Shreveport.  With over 30 years of extensive operational, modeling and simulation, and systems engineering experience, he has used that expertise for the past six years, developing the operational and technical context for DHS and DoD missions.
