The California Maritime Academy is a unique campus of the California State University preparing students for successful careers in the fast-paced and exciting fields of International Business, Logistics, Marine Engineering and Technology, Maritime Affairs, Global Studies, Transportation, and Transportation and Engineering Management at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Located in Vallejo, northeast of San Francisco, the campus includes a state of the art multi-bridge simulator providing realistic training for students and industry professionals.  In addition, Cal Maritime’s 500-foot training ship, Golden Bear, provides a floating classroom/laboratory where classroom concepts are practiced and applied.

Cal Maritime has received U.S. Department of Homeland Security approval for the Maritime Security training courses offered through its Sponsored Projects and Extended Learning (SPEL) Department. Cal Maritime is the only training organization in the country delivering Maritime Security Courses certified by the Coast Guard, The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as meeting the requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA), the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) International Ship and Port Security Code (ISPS), and State and Federal emergency management standards. Additionally, Cal Maritime’s Extended Learning department handles a growing number of projects and grants for U.S. Department of Homeland Security and CalEMA, among others, serving to underscore Cal Maritime’s leadership in maritime security in the Pacific Rim.
