Mr. Ed Lane is the Director of the National Reconnaissance Office’s (NRO) Enterprise Management Group (EMG) within the Mission Framework System Program Office (MF SPO) in the Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED).  He has over 16 years of acquisition experience, 8 of them with the NRO.  In his current role he manages a budget in excess of $500M across the FYDP to execute multiple NRO programs to include Excercise and Operational Communication (XOCOMM) and Ground Reporting Mesaging (GRM).  In addtion he also manages several NRO Information Sharing and service broker programs to include Distributed Common Ground System Intelligence Community (DCGS-IC), the IC’s Enterprise Registry & Repository (ER2) and SIGINT Data Distribution System (SDDS). 

Mr. Lane is a native of West Springfield, Massachusetts.  He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in 1986 with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing Management.

He continued his education at Central Michigan University, graduating with a Master’s of Science in Business Administration in 1992.  He bagan his career in the Army as an Infantry Officer and served as a Rifle Platoon Leader and a Company Executive Officer.  In April 1992 he transferred to the Ordnance Corps and was assigned to the 19th Corps Material Management Center where he commanded the 596th Maintenance Company in the 485th Corps Support Battalion.  In June 1996, Mr. Lane became an Acquisition Corp Officer and was assigned to Picatinny Arsenal as the Assistant Program Manager for Artillery Munitions Systems.  In 2004, Mr. Lane was selected to serve as the Program Manager, Tactical Applications at the National Reconnaissance Office and as the Program Manager for Distributed Common Ground System – Intelligence Community.  Mr. Lane retired from the US Army in January 2009 after 26 years of service.  Upon retirement from the Army Mr. Lane transitioned to government service as a Department of the Navy civilian with the SPAWAR Space Field Activity at the NRO and was assigned to his current position.  He is Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAIWA) Level 3 certified in both Program Mangement and Information Technology.
